zinnia design, our friends Eric and Adrienne Delaforce and Anne Barge

Spring was in full swing and time for wedding season was around the corner. My friends Adrienne and Eric Delaforce from Eric's Eye photography asked if I could put together some new looks for an Anne Barge shoot that they would be working on. With no delay I gathered my floral palette and began working. I came up with four looks that i think are perfect for this years weddings and my niece Elizabeth and I were off to a downtown loft  to assist the Delaforce team in creating these beautiful images that I hope will inspire you.
The shoot began and My niece Elizabeth an aspiring photographer was asked to join in on the creativity. She was very excited. Eric was nice enough to teach her a few things and help her with her technique. Thanks again Eric for your kindness.
And the fun began. In this shot the acid green orchids add a great burst of color while staying very classy and trend forward.

These were my favorite. Fire kissed Calla Lilies, buttery mini Orchids and black and chocolate brown french double sided french satin ribbon create a look of elegance in what we call the best of show look. Regal...... 
This bouquet is oh so sweet and budget friendly. Great for outdoor country weddings. We love this one for it traditional sophistication. Beautiful creamy spray roses and Pink dusted Jasmine tied with smooth French satin create a rich look for your dreamy day to come.
And talk about dreamy. Look at this jewel. Long french Tulips are like diamonds. Silky cream roses and cloudy white Hydrangeas anchor this bouquet that is to be carried upright and across the arm almost like pageant flowers. you cant go wrong with this collection of flowers. Truly decadent.

Prom night for the ZInnia Crew

Elizabeth's sense of humor is very prevalent in all of these photographs. I love this one of her in the bathroom just after getting her prom gown on.

Of coarse there had to be flowers. Jeremy's boutonniere of bronze Gerbera daisy and peacock feathers.
E didn't want to do the same ole prom wristlet so I made her a small hand tied of Bronze Gerbera daises, Peacock feathers and  silver bullion . These colors all complemented her dress which was beautiful.

Just some pretty things. Zinnia designs that make us smile.

Today I delivered some beautiful flowers to my mothers friend Carmen  for her birthday and I got these pictures of the spring beauties. Happy birthday Carmen Hope you enjoy your spring flowers.
 I did these spring arrangements  below with lemons and powder blue Hydrangeas for a Sunday spring picnic. I want to share them with you. The variegated tea leaves ground the design and give a wonderful solid vase above the light feel of the fresh lemon. The table that these were made for were set with lemon patterned napkins and a complimentary color palette. This is a very sophisticated look. 
 Orchids add lovely Soft texture as a back drop.

Don't forget the Zinnias...........

As a child growing up in rural Georgia my Grandma Jackson would always plant rows of Zinnias amongst the lush vegetables gardens that my grandfather would tend to. The Zinnia flower conjures wonderful memories of growing up on a small family farm and all the joys that I experienced as a child. The bold colors of the Zinnias always commanded  attention.
As you well know Georgia summers can be a bit of a challenge for a garden. Months of drought can take its toll and is very unforgiving. Zinnias and the sweltering heat of summer seem to be a tremendous match. These flowers seem to withstand even the hottest of days and driest of months. Zinnia flowers originated in Mexico and have been very common ornamental additions to American Gardens for over a hundred years. These flowers are often referred t as the Mexican Sunflower. In most of North America Zinnias are an annual plant and will need to be planted yearly. They are easiest to plant by seed. Seeds are very accessible by way of your local garden center or through many online sources such as Eden Brothers Seed Company, WWW.Edenbrothers.com. With that being said we must remind you. Don't forget the Zinnias.
Here are some tips on Zinnia flowers:

Plant In compost rich soil.

Plant in well drained soil.

Plant them around your veggies or among your veggies for some visual interest. You can't beat the color.

Plant each seed about one inch apart.

Always cut away an dried or dead foliage or retired blooms, and add them to your compost heap.

Fertilize with a good organic fertilizer to insure healthier stronger blooms and plants.

Cut a fist full tie a beautiful bow around them and take them to your mother. 

Plant them again next year.

One of our favorite home goods designers has graced us all on a more affordable level. Target has recently joined with the extreme genius of Orla Kiley. Kiely an Irish designer who focuses on color and distinct shape will feature a line of dinner ware for the national retailer in select stores. 

Famous for her clean lines and uplifting use of colors. Kiely takes inspiration from the sixties and seventies to create an uplifting experience. 

I can't think of any other room I'd like to be in other than these that Kiely has designed. Kiely also designs Hand bags that are carried in many boutiques in the northern united states. If you are in Atlanta drop by Star provisions to pick one of these bags up. They are guaranteed to stir up conversation amongst you and all your friends.
